The Promotions Committee met on October 29 to discuss two agenda items. The first to update and complete the business and attraction listings on the website. The group laid out a plan to contact lodging providers and restaurants first, and then move onto shopping, attractions and other service businesses. The group suggested a ”one page” fact sheet and an outline which details the website capabilities . It was decided to meet again on the 19th of November to divide up the workload and approve the information that will be distributed.
The second agenda item was to “brainstorm” workplan suggestions to go forward to the board for 2015. The group was provided information by email as to the promotions function and asked to bring ideas to the meeting on the 19th. Several members discussed ideas such as informational meetings for all committee members and volunteers.
At the November 19th meeting, informational material drafts were provided by Augusta West and suggestions for simplifications were made by the group. Assignments to contact lodging and restaurant owners were agreed upon and information was distributed.
The group discussed the planning meeting on December 11th and encouraged all to attend. Ideas which were presented were 1) to work with the Economic restructuring Committee to complete a lodging occupancy survey and use that information to develop a promotion plan to attract visitors to the district. The group would also like to plan an annual meeting and regular community out briefs (such as the Mayor’s Breakfast).
